Private equity and real estate in asset allocation

Private equity and real estate as alternative asset classes can play an important role as building blocks in asset allocation - not only do they serve to diversify portfolios, but they also offer opportunities for attractive returns, especially in the context of historically low interest rates and a corresponding willingness to take risks.

PRIVATE EQUITY

Investments in non-listed companies can be made either as direct investments or through private equity funds. Both options require a long-term investment horizon, as a premature sale is usually not possible or only possible at considerable cost. While direct investments require very high minimum investments, private equity funds can usually be subscribed for smaller sums. The fund-specific requirements, such as special knowledge and experience, investment horizon, risk/return profile, etc., must be taken into account on a client-specific basis.

To this end, we currently draw on the expertise of our in-house management company ODDO BHF Private Equity, which specialises in the management of private equity funds of funds on the primary and secondary markets with a focus on Europe and North America. In addition, we make well-known private equity funds of external management companies available to our clients if they are suitable.

REAL ESTATE

The real estate asset class can also be covered by direct investments or real estate funds. In the case of direct investments, for example, apartment buildings, office buildings or retail space are acquired by one or a few investors. As a rule, this requires large investment volumes. On the other hand, real estate funds can usually be subscribed to from a lower investment amount. This allows for a higher degree of diversification compared to direct investments, as real estate funds generally also invest in several investment properties. The fund-specific requirements, such as special knowledge and experience, investment horizon, risk/return profile, etc., must be taken into account on a client-specific basis. With regard to real estate funds, we make use of the expertise of renowned cooperation partners.

A search profile can be used to deposit your sales or purchase requests with us. As soon as we have received an appropriate offer, we will bring you together with the potential partner. This enables us to present you with various investment strategies with different regional focus.
